IPSWICH — Town meeting is set to convene on Saturday morning … and it could be a long one.

But first things first. Wrap up well, because the forecast is for rain and temperatures in the 50s. Town meeting starts at 9 a.m. outside Ipswich High School.

After you arrive, you can sit under the big tent or stay in your car and listen to the proceedings on your radio.

But if you do that, you need to be careful, too. In a post to Facebook (embedded below), Ipswich police said state law bans idling on school grounds when temperatures are between 35 and 80 degrees.

If temps fall outside that range, idling is allowed for no more than one minute every 15. That is to allow drivers to cool or heat their cars as needed.

A few days after town meeting, there will be a special election with two ballot questions on funding. The special election will be held on Tuesday, October 20, from noon to 8 p.m. at the YMCA, 110 County
